Jasmine Elmer
Ancient World Specialist
Jasmine is a straight talking expert in a variety of ancient cultures. She aims to use her personal and professional experiences to engage the public in relevant and innovative ways to understand the ancient past. She focuses her methods on challenging traditional approaches and uses the modern world as a springboard into the ancient one.
Get To Know Me
Growing up in a mixed race family, in a council estate in the East End of London, Jasmine knows personally how far removed the ancient world can feel from our hectic modern one. Only gaining access to the study of the ancient world at University, she has directed much of her passion into widening participation in the subject for all.
Having spent over 20 years in the field of classical education, in a variety of different schools, she has a wealth of experience in bringing the study of the ancient world to life. She has always maintained a wide interest in all areas of ancient culture; from history to archaeology and even a brief exploration into the field of social anthropology! She is passionate about intertwining these disciplines to gain a full and engaging picture of the lives of the ancients. She believes we are well overdue for a fresh new take on our ancient past.
As a creative, Jasmine has focused her energies on building her media career by developing new and creative ways to represent the ancient world in the public sphere. She does not label herself a traditional "Classicist", but instead an advocate for the wider study of ancient culture.
Jasmine is excited to be working on a variety of new projects, from TV and writing to podcasting. Please contact Jasmine directly or through her management at Stella Media.
